Director Maria Giovanna Cicciari goes back to Calabria. Previous reasearches regarding landscape memory had already brought her to grecanic Calabria of “In nessun luogo resta” and to imagined Greece of “Hyperion”. She explores signs and traces of a catastrophe as old as forgotten. Shot in 16mm and in high definition in the area of Oppido Mamertina, a town in the district of Reggio Calabria, very close to the epicentre of the earthquake that destroyed Calabria on the 5th of February 1783. This memory consists of white wounds on ridges and of ruins of an old village that got a new life after centuries, as well as of historic images and invisible presences returning in a new shape.
